Sarah Monte, like Hillary Clinton, is breaking barriers.

The Livonia Stevenson High School student has become the first female in the school's history to play on the varsity football team.

“She's doing a great job fitting in with the guys,” head coach Randy Micallef tells WDIV's Jermont Terry. “She earned it.."

Monte, a kicker for the team, proved Thursday night that she's got what it takes in a game against Livonia Franklin. She twice kicked the ball between the uprights and helped her team to victory.

"I think I earned it," she tells WDIV, adding that a few girls have asked for her autograph.
