Downtown Detroit Gets a Trendy Eyeware Shop

Woodard Avenue in downtown Detroit is becoming quite the trendy stretch of commerce with high-end clothing shops like John Varvatos and Kit and Ace. 

Now comes this.

JC Reindl of the Detroit Free Press reports that fashionable New York-based eyewear retailer, Warby Parker, plans to open at 1449 Woodward in downtown Detroit. A building permit was issued last week for renovations for the store.

The company has more than 30 shops in the U.S. and one in Toronto. The Detroit store is the first in Michigan.

The company, which launched in 2010, first began as an online-only retailer.
