Update, 2 p.m. Monday: Congressman John Conyers and wife Monica Conyers renewed their vows Saturday, two days before a settlement hearing in their divorce case.

Daniel Findling, Monica Conyers's attorney, tells The Detroit News that the Wayne County Circuit Court hearing was adjourned Monday at each side's request of counsel “while we determine the proper course of the case … and explore the journey that the parties are taking.”

“The case may be dismissed; the case may result in something else. Obviously, relationships are complicated, and they take their own journey,” Findling said.

“The congressman and my client are no different than any other human being, and conflicted. It appears from their recent re-nuptials the conflict has taken a positive course towards reconciliation, but we’ll see.”

Congressman John Conyers and Monica Conyers, who had been going through divorce proceedings, have done an about-face and renewed their marriage vows Saturday.

Facebook posts, including one by Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Vonda Evans, show the couple at an outdoor ceremony with family and friends.

He's 87 and she's 51. They wed in 1989.

Evans writes:

Congratulations to my 25+ years BFF, Monica Conyers We have been through It All! But today watching her and the Congressman renew their vows brought tears to my eyes! We are not perfect but were still Standing!

Real Tested Love lasts 4 EVER! 27 years later We are still STANDING STRONGER than Before! .

Last September, Monica Conyers filed for divorce in Wayne County Circuit Court,  claiming "a breakdown of the marriage relationship to the extent that the objects of matrimony have been destroyed and there remains no reasonable likelihood that the marriage can be preserved."

A month later, John Conyer's lawyer Arnold Reed, told the Free Press that Conyers didn't want to divorce Monica and wanted to work things out.

But court records show the case has not been closed and that a "settlement hearing" is set for Monday.

Attempts to reach John Conyer's representatives on Sunday, including his attorney Reed, were unsuccessful.
