Detroit Pastor Who Interviewed Trump Deals With More Controversy

September 23, 2016, 7:43 AM by  Allan Lengel

Things have been a little wild for Detroit Bishop Wayne T. Jackson ever since he welcomed GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump to his church on Sept. 3 and interviewed him for his TV show.

Jackson has faced a barrage of criticism because of the embracing of Trump, and the public fallout seems to be continuing.

Last weekend, the group, New Era Detroit, disrupted a service at Jackson's church, Great Faith Ministries on Grand River Avenue, protesting what they claim is Jackson's lavish lifestyle and failure to give back to the community.

Jackson tells Fox 2's Randy Wimbley that he wants the leader of the organization arrested for disrupting the service.

"How dare you come into a place where there are children where there's elderly and widows and grandmothers and do such a thing? It's wrong and you can't justify it," he told Fox 2.

Jackson also defended his contributions to the community, saying he's had a long tradition of helping the homeless, feeding and housing the poor and getting people jobs.

"I have bought washers and dryers for elderly people," he said. "We have taken and had dinners at my home for school children. I have people living in my home right now that were homeless and they're not paying me a dime."
