Health Department Shuts Ferndale's Landmark Como's Restaurant & Pizzeria

September 23, 2016, 4:14 PM

The health department has shut Ferndale’s landmark Como’s Restaurant & Pizzeria on Woodward at 9 Mile Road, at least for now, WXYZ reports.

The closing came after the Oakland County Health Department recommended to the Food Service Appeal Board to close Como's because the bar and restaurant was unable to maintain a safe and clean environment.

The health department says that Como's has made great strides to work on the food and safety codes, but they still have work to do, WXYZ.

The bar will remain closed until the health department gives the all clear, WXYZ reports.

Como's put on a happy face about the closing, posting this on Facebook:

Como’s is getting a facelift!
We will be closed for a few weeks to create a better dining experience for our guests. This major renovation includes a massive upgrade to the kitchen and dining room!
We look forward to sharing our remodeled space with you. Tune into this page for updates on the remodel!

Como’s liquor license was temporarily suspended late last year for some violations including failing to pay a fine for serving an underage police decoy.
