WeWork, a New York-based co-working space company, is opening two downtown Detroit locations in buildings owned by Dan Gilbert early next year, Crain's Detroit Business reports.

Kirk Pinho of Crain's writes that the company signed leases Friday for about 40,000 square feet each in the 1001 Woodward skyscraper, for three floors, and in the building at 1449 Woodward Ave., for the remaining seven floors above the Kit + Ace clothing store.

The company expects to have about 1,500 desks in its space, Crain's reports. WeWork memberships range from desk space, starting at $220 per month, to private office space beginning at $450 per month.

The website talks about its mission:

When we started WeWork in 2010, we wanted to build more than beautiful, shared office spaces. We wanted to build a community. A place you join as an individual, 'me', but where you become part of a greater 'we'. A place where we’re redefining success measured by personal fulfillment, not just the bottom line. Community is our catalyst.
