Update: Man Charged with Threatening on Facebook to Kill Cops at Police Funeral

Update , 4:30 p.m. Wednesday: Deshawn Maurice Lanton made an initial appearance in federal court Wednesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mona K. Majzoub on charges of using the internet to transmit a threat, The Detroit News reports.

He remains behind bars while awaiting a detention hearing Thursday.

Deshawn Lanton will be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in federal court in Detroit on charges of posting threatening officers on WXYZ's Facebook page during a livestream last Friday of the funeral for Detroit Police Sgt. Kenneth Steil, the station reports.

Lanton, aka Kane Pnotes on social media, is accused of writing, "maybe I should drop a bomb on the building to get rid of the rest of y'all" on the livce video feed from St. Clair Shores. The allegation is in a federal criminal complaint filed Wednesday.

According to the criminal complaint, investigators discovered that Lanton had public pictures of him posing with multiple firearms, smoking marijuana and calling himself a member of the "Money Gang." He is also accused of posting a number of videos showing police officers getting hurt and indicating "how pleased he was to see officers being injured."
