Eight Michigan Billionaires Make Forbes' Richest Amercans List

Eight Michiganders made Forbes' 2016 list of richest Americans, including the usual suspects, Dan Gilbert and Mike Ilitch, the Detroit Free Press reports. 

Ronda Stryker, 62, of Portage, is the only female to appear among the Michigan group with a net worth of $4.1 billion, Ellisa Robinson of the Detroit Free Press reports. Stryker, a former teacher with  a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in special education, owns Stryker Corp., which sold $9.9 billion in medical devices, equipment and software in 2015, according to Forbes.

Brothers Hank and Doug Meijer, co-chairs of the Grand Rapids-based grocery chain Meijer, were the top Michigan earners, with a combined net worth of $6.9 billion, the Freep reports. 

Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert, 54, was listed as having a $4.6 billion worth.

Mike and Marian Ilitch, co-founders of Little Caesars pizza, were listed as having a networth of $5.8 billion

The Freep reports that others on the list include:

 Amway co-founder Richard Devos and his family ($5.4 billion), John Brown of Stryker Corp. ($2.5 billion), Jon Stryker of Stryker Corp. ($2.3 billion) and William Young ($2.1 billion), co-founder of Plastipak, a plastic containers maker located in Plymouth.
