Stein Mart, a boutique-style department store chain based in Jacksonville, Fla., is entering the Michigan market.
Adrienne Roberts of Crain's Detroit Business reports that the chain will open in the Maple Village Shopping Center in Ann Arbor on Thursday and another in the Gateway Shopping Center in West Bloomfield Township next week.
The 30,000-square-foot store in West Bloomfield is at Orchard Lake Road and West 14 Mile, in a strip mall with stores that include Whole Foods, Dunham's Sports and Pet Smart, Crain's reports.
"These new stores exemplify our current real estate strategy to fill existing markets where we are doing well and enter newer markets in which we have an opportunity to grow in terms of number of stores and sales volume," Dawn Robertson, CEO of Stein Mart, said in a news release.
Stein Mart has about 260 stores in 29 states.
