WXYZ' reporter Ronnie Dahl is calling it quits to become a spokesperson for the Detroit office of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Her last day is Friday.

"To those who have been wondering why I am leaving WXYZ-TV, I am happy to share it's to pursue a new and exciting career with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives," Dahl wrote on Facebook earlier this month. "I will be working out of the Detroit field office, so I will still be around! Just helping Detroit in a different way."

"My last day with Channel 7 is October 14th. I start with the ATF October 17th. Thanks to all of you who shared kind words and well wishes. It's been an adventure, Detroit.

Dahl joined WXYZ in February 2013. Before that, she worked for WJBK.

Dahl isn't the first to leave local TV to be a spokesperson for a federal law enforcement agency.

Fox 2's Simon Shaykhet left the station to become a spokesperson for the Detroit FBI office. In 2013, after 1 year and 10 months, he returned to TV, joining WXYZ.
