Keith B. Hudson owner of the Hip Hop Shop in northwest Detroit, has been charged in the death of a 26-year-old man at his store.

Hudson, 41, claims he fatally shot Marcel Dubose on Oct. 18 at 9:20 p.m. at the store in self-defense after Dubose tried robbing him. Dubose was shot multiple times and died at the scene.

More specifically, Hudson told authorities Dubose, who has a 4-year-old daughter, came after him with a brick while he was going into the building and fired four shots in self defense.

Hudson is charged with first-degree premeditated murder, manslaughter, and felony firearm.  He was arraigned Monday in Detroit's 36th District Court.

The shop at 15736 W. Seven Mile Rd. has earned shouts from Eminem and other local rappers.

Dubose's father Richard Poole told WXYZ last week: "I'm still trying to figure out what happened. They're trying to tell me something about a robbery, but that's not my son. That's not what he do."

Witnesses said that Dubose, who is a mixed martial arts fighter, was trying to sell CDs in front of the store.
