Video: Pet Left at Curb with Move-Out Trash Gains a New Friend and Veterinary Care

The heartbreaking sight of an abandoned pit bull, cruelly left at curbside when his owners moved, prompted a neighbor on the unidentified Detroit block to post the poignant photo below on Facebook just over a week ago.

The unnamed homeowner fed the homeless dog, named Boo, and reportedly asked animal shelters to pick up the lonely pet. Yahoo News and Inside Edition (video below) report that Mike Diesel, a Wayne State University law student who founded Detroit Youth and Dog Rescue, took Boo to a veterinarian early last week and placed him in foster case to await adoption.

“A neighbor that witnessed the family move out a while ago said they came back once for belongings and not Boo, unfortunately,” Diesel tells the Inside Edition program.

He's quoted Monday at another website as saying:

"He was just laying there, being his loyal self. Pillows were still on the mattress. Being the loyal dog he was supposed to be, he waited for his master to come back."

At Yahoo News, Maya Chung has an update:

It turned up that Boo has heartworms and as of Saturday [Oct. 22] he is still at the Groesbeck Animal Hospital getting the help he needs.

"Boo has warmed up to me in an amazing way already and truly shows and proves the love of the pit bull and trust they have in humans,” said Diesel.

Diesel is accepting donations to feed and care for Boo at Detroit Youth and Dog Rescue, 2601Michigan Av., Detroit, MI 48216 or via PayPal to detroityouthanddogrescue@gmail.com.
