Over the years, holiday pop-up shops have appeared in different vacant spaces in downtown Detroit buildings owned by Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert.

This year, 10 businesses, which includes a coffee shop,  are being housed at 1001 Woodard at the corner of Michigan Avenue in a large space called "Holiday House." The pop-up, which opened nearly a week ago, will operate through Dec. 23. Currently, the hours are Wednesday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.

Joseph David Murphy, who has an ecommerce business, David Vintage,  which specializes in Detroit-centric fashion, has a shop in the pop-up space he's running in partnership with Gilbert's Bedrock real estate company.

So far, he says, business has been great.
