Detroit has enjoyed a beneficial relationship with President Obama's administration.

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan is uncertain if that type of relationship will continue when President-elect Donald Trump takes office. He's taking a wait-and-see attitude, Keith Laing of The Detroit News reports.

“When the president-elect gave his speech on election night, the first thing he talked about was rebuilding cities,” Duggan told reporters Friday after an appearance in the Partnership for Public Service’s headquarters with outgoing Office of Management and Budget Director Shaun Donovans.

“He’s talked quite a bit about infrastructure. If the administration goes in that direction, we look forward to working with them and hopefully this will be a model. But I think it’s too early to know what direction they’re going in.”

Duggan was in Washington to tout city improvements in Detroit that have come as a result of the partnership with the Obama administration.
