Juror in O.J. Simpson Trial to Kwame and Other Celebs: "Get Over Yourselves"
Kwame Kilpatrick, the hip-hop mayor whose name alone can evoke some pretty darn strong emotions, says he can't get a fair trial in his hometown.
But Teresa Baldas of the Detroit Free Press interviewed some jurors from some famous cases, and they say well known folks like Kilpatrick can get a fair shake.
Renay Lyons, 45, a juror in Simpson's 2008 robbery and kidnapping trial in Las Vegas says of Kilpatrick and others:
"Get over yourselves because not everybody is following you. Not everyone is getting the tabloids and watching the news. Some people really aren't into that -- and there's more of them out there than you think."
Juror Jessica Hubinek, 34, who helped convict ex-Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich says of the trial:
"I went in there totally unbiased, even his first day he was on the stand, I thought, 'Oh, he's a nice guy, he seems charismatic.' "
Kilpatrick goes on trial next month along with his father Bernard, friend Bobby Ferguson and ex-water department head Victor Mercado on public corruption charges.
