GM Joins Other Auto Giants and Will Announce More U.S. Jobs

General Motors Co. plans to announce Tuesday that it will invest $1 billion in U.S. plants, including in Michigan, adding more than 1,000 jobs, Melissa Burden of  The Detroit News writes, citing "a source familiar with the automaker’s plans."

GM’s announcement had been previously scheduled and was not in response to Trump, according to a source familiar with the company’s planning, the paper says.

Of course, that won't stop him from taking credit.

GM joins Ford Motor Co. and Fiat Chrysler, who were praised last week by the president elect after the additional of new U.S. jobs and investments in domestic plants. Trump had criticized GM and others car manufacturers for producing vehicles in Mexico, and threatened to impose a border tax.
