The Michigan Humane Society is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever disfigured disfiguring a brown and tan Rottweiler found Tuesday near Livernois and Warren on Detroit’s southwest side.

Most of the dog's nose and ears were torn off and there were deep cuts on the legs and tail, reports the Detroit Free Press.

“It appears that someone purposely maimed this poor dog, which has caused it a great deal of suffering,” MHS cruelty investigator Mark Ramos said. “This kind of cruelty is unacceptable. We need to be a voice for these animals and as a community we need to speak through our strong actions to make sure this doesn’t happen again."

The Humane Society posts a photo of the dog on Facebook.
