Tuesday is the debut of the long-awaiting Comedy Central show "Detroiters," which airs at 10:30 p.m.

Besides the two main characters Sam and Tim, who are played by Tim Robinson and Sam Richardson -- who hail from Metro Detroit -- the show also features Sam's TV sister, Chrissy, who is played by another local, Shawntay Dalon, 31. Dalon grew up on Detroit's east side and graduated from Wayne State University.

On the show, she also happens to be Tim's TV wife  who works on a Chrysler Assembly line.

"She's so good, right?" says Tim Robinson, a "Saturday Night Live" alumnus, of his onscreen spouse, according to Julie Hinds of the Detroit Free Press. "She's such a good actor."

Over the years, Dalon, one of nine siblings, has been based in Detroit and gone back and forth between here and Los Angeles for her career, Hinds writes:

Like Richardson and Robinson, who grew up here and met years ago through the Motor City improvisational comedy scene, the 31-year-old Dalon brings real Detroit credentials to the comedy. Landing a recurring TV role is a major career step for the 31-year-old actress, who hails from Detroit's east side.

One of nine siblings, Dalon has always loved the arts and performing. "People on our block used to call us the Jacksons," she says with a laugh. "We would make our own little scripts from Elmo or 'Sesame Street'  books and go in our backyard, and we would put on shows for the block. We would charge a dollar to watch us perform. I remember this one time, our backyard was so full and people had to stand in the driveway."

The Wayne State University alum is based in Detroit, but has traveled between the city and Los Angeles as she has built a career in acting as well as writing, directing and spoken-word performance. She appeared recently in Detroit Public Theatre's  production of "Dot" by playwright Colman Domingo, a holiday comedy about a woman with the beginning stages of Alzheimer's. Dalon played the vivacious younger daughter.
