During the presidential campaign, some of the state's highest ranking Republican elected officials and donors refrained from supporting Donald Trump. That was not the case with state Attorney Gen. Bill Schuette, who continues to voice support in tweets.

Steve Neavling of Motor City Muckraker raises an interesting question: Will Schuette's pro-Trump tweets come back to haunt him if, as expected, he runs for governor in 2018?

That's a particularly fair question in light of a recent poll conducted by EPIC/MRA which showed that Trump only had a 39 percent favorability among 600 Michigan voters surveyed even though he won the state by a narrow margin.

Granted Trump has only been president for less than a month, so it's hard to tell whether his popularity will change as he settles in to what so far has been a very intense -- and some say chaotic -- presidency.

On Dec. 11, Schuette tweeted: President-elect @realDonaldTrump picked wisely, @BetsyDeVos is the best candidate for @usedgov.

On Jan. 8, he tweeted: .@SenatorSessions is highly qualified to be our next US Atty Gen.

On Jan. 20, inauguration day, he wrote: A new American destiny. Pres Trump speaks to the heartland. No more forgotten Americans. Better schools safer neighborhoods more jobs.

And on the immigration ban, which could particularly come back to haunt him with immigrants, he wrote:

.@POTUS Trump's Executive Order is not a ban on Muslims, and he is placing the security of Americans first.
