Detroit Free Press sportswriter Vince Ellis does the report card thing, grading Coach Stan Van Gundy's nine trades since becoming coach and president of basketball operations for the Pistons in 2014.

Here's a sampling of grades and descriptions of the trades:

1. Oct. 14, 2014: Acquired center Joel Anthony from Boston for guard Will Bynum. Grade: C+. The word: The Pistons had no use for Bynum, so they moved him for Anthony,  who was  solid locker room presence for two seasons, though not much of an on-court impact. Bynum is out of the NBA.

2. Feb. 19, 2015: Acquired point guard Reggie Jackson from Oklahoma City for point guard D.J. Augustin, forward Kyle Singler, a 2017 second-round pick and a 2019 second-round pick. Three-team deal also included Utah. Grade: B. The word: The grade was an A before Jackson's left knee started aching last October. Augustin is a back-up with the Magic and Singler's career has cratered with the Thunder.

3. July 9, 2015: Acquired forward Marcus Morris, swingman Reggie Bullock and swingman Danny Granger from Phoenix for a 2020 second-round pick. Grade: A. The word: The Pistons once again took advantage of the Suns' desire to shed money. Morris' cheap contract helps the Pistons' current situation.
