"This Old House" on PBS features a Detroit home for the first time in its 38 years,

Also for the first time, it posts a weekly web series online. The three-and-a-half-minute first segment is here. (A 30-second promo is below.)

"Get to know the inspiring people—and city—behind TOH’s newest project," the show's site says.

The 10-part TV series debuts locally April 3 at 7:30 p.m. on WTVS (Channel 56) and will be repeated April 9 at 9 a.m.. It features renovation of a brick home in the historic Russell Woods area and a vacant one in the Grandmont Rosedale neighborhood.

Homeowners Frank and Tamiko Polk bought the first two-story house from the Detroit Land Bank Authority.

The Grandmont Rosedale house was built in 1930s and had been abandoned for at least 10 years. It's now owned by the city and is part of its Rehabbed and Ready Program..
