Congressman John Conyers, Jr. becomes the latest political figure to endorse Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan for re-election.

“I am endorsing Mayor Duggan for re-election because he has shown a real talent for improving core city services,” said Conyers in a statement. “EMS and police response times are now timely. 60,000 new street lights are on. Thanks to President Obama, new buses are on the road making their routes on time. Garbage is picked up on schedule, new jobs are opening up and 11,000 blighted houses have been torn down.”

“I look forward to continuing to work with the Mayor to ensure that Detroit's recovery keeps moving forward and includes all of us, from every neighborhood across the city,” Rep. Conyers said.

Other prominent figures in the community who have endorsed Duggan include Wayne County Executive Warren Evans, Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon and Detroit Branch NAACP president Wendell Anthony.

Duggan has also got the endorsement of Michigan’s largest skills trade union, the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights and Detroit’s top public safety unions.
