The Detroit Lions have improved in recent years, making their second playoff appearance in three years. Still, that's not enough to make the team exempt from being made fun of.
In the latest episode on Sunday, "The Simpsons" does a parody of ESPN's "30 for 30" sports documentary series, and Bart becomes a star basketball player at Springfield Elementary who gets involved with the Mafia and point shaving, according to Brian Manzullo of the Detroit Free Press
During one scene, the narrator says: "All sports stories have an upside ... unless you're a Detroit Lions fan."
In 2010, Moe of Moe's Tavern was trying to convince Homer to race a pigeon, and says: "If it moves, you can bet on it."
"What about the Detroit Lions?" Bart asks, to which Moe replies: "Eh, now, now, lay off Detroit. Them people is living in 'Mad Max' times."
