With spring officially a week away, winter has decided to stick around.

The National Weather Service for Detroit/Pontiac says light snow will continue Monday into the evening hours, and the after-work commuters may have to deal with roads that are "snow covered and slippery."

The report says:

* Localized, heavier bursts of snow will be possible today as narrow lake effect bands move off Lake Erie.

* Widespread 2 to 5 inches is expected across the area with the  highest amounts of 5 inches generally along and south of the  I-696 corridor and east of US 23.

* Any heavier bursts could produce a very localized higher
accumulation, potentially upwards of 6 inches.

* Roadways will become snow covered and slippery through this  evening, affecting the evening commute.

* Heavier bursts of snow will reduce visibilities to one-quarter  of a mile at times.
