Despite Gov. Rick Snyder's opposition to it, most of the nine Republicans in Michigan’s congressional delegation plan to support President Donald Trump's repeal of the Affordable Care Act when the House votes this week, reports The Detroit News.

Republican Rep. Justin Amash of Grand Rapids will will be one of the exceptions and vote no.

Michigan’s senior Republican, Fred Upton of St. Joseph, leans toward yes, but hasn't yet confirmed which way he'll go.

Trump is trying to twist arms to garner enough Republican votes, and it is unclear if he'll succeed. If it passes and the changes turn out to be as big a disaster as Democrats predict, that could be enough to change the House to a Democratic majority in 2018.

If it turns out well, the Republicans would have a better chance of hanging on to the majority rule.

Gov. Snyder wrote this week to delegation members, warning that the House GOP plan “will adversely impact” Michigan’s most vulnerable citizens and may lead to significant cost increases for seniors, Melissa Nann Burke and Jonathan Oosting write in The News.
