Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley said on TNT during halftime of the Pistons' final home game Monday night at the Palace in Auburn Hills that he's never been to Detroit.
Barkley, who sat on a panel with ex-NBA players Shaquille O'Neal and Kenny Smith and host Ernie Johnson, made the remark during a discussion about memories of The Palace, according to Brian Manzullo of the Detroit Free Press. The Pistons are moving to Detroit in the Fall.
O'Neal piped in that there's a casino in Detroit, a reference to Barkley's reputation for gambling.
Meanwhile, Michael Stone aka "Stoney" of 97.1 The Ticket, wanted to correct the record with this tweet:
Hey @NBAonTNT Barkley is wrong. He has been in Detroit. He met myself and @VanEarlWright at a strip club on 8 mile in the 90's.Great time
