The Detroit Pistons looked as if they had some promise this year. But as the season went on, things took a very pathetic turn, ending with a dismal final game Wednesday night. The Pistons lost to the Magic 113-109 in Orlando.

Pistons beat writer Vince Ellis sums up best why they sucked:

Reggie Jackson’s sore left knee, team chemistry and the lack of growth are the primary culprits.

Future repercussions will be realized in the off-season, but for now, all the Pistons know is a feeling of failure.

“It’s been tough for everybody,” Piston Stanley Johnson said. “I was talking to my friend the other day about it. Last season, we didn’t have any really difficult hurdles in the season. Everything was pretty straightforward. Not really a bunch of injuries. Starting off with Reggie in training camp, it really hurt us.

“We just never got on the same page. The players, our team, we never got on the same page so for us we were fighting so many things and to play basketball in the NBA is already hard, but when you got to fight so many other things to play, it makes the game more difficult than it has to be.”
