Six Detroit Area Things to Do This Weekend

The weather is warming and it's Easter Weekend. Here's some fun choices we recommend this weekend.

Friday

Art show:  The first Resident Artists Exhibition of 2017 features new work from Kiji, Tschabalala Self and Ellannah Sadkin created during their 3-month residency at the Red Bull House of Art at 1551 Winder, Detroit. Friday, 7-10 p.m. Free admission. Learn more here.

Flint Eastwood: Jax Anderson, aka Flint Eastwood, celebrates her new album, "Broke Royalty," in the lobby of the cool Fisher Building. The show will include some of her favorite artists. 8 p.m. 3011 W. Grand Blvd., Detroit. Tickets: $15.

Friday and Saturday

Film at the Flint Institute of Arts: Don't sell Flint short. The city has some worthy cultural offerings, which includes the first-rate Flint Institute of Arts.  This weekend, the museum is showing the film, Peter & the Farm,  which is described as "a haunting mix of documentary and cautionary tale" about a proud farmer in Vermont who regretfully confronts his history and his legacy as he observes his life nearing an end. Bunnyville at the Detroit Zoo: Family fun includes an egg hunt, games, crafts, live entertainment, zookeeper talks. Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. 8450 W. 10 Mile Road, Royal Oak. Each guest with a food donation will receive a reduced admission price of $9, parking not included. Saturday

Greenfield Village reopens: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  20900 Oakwood Blvd, Dearborn. Ticket info here.

Detroit Music Festival: The concert  include performances by Keith Sweat, K-Ci & JoJo, and 112. Saturday, 8 p.m. Fox Theatre, 2211 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Tickets  $55.50 to $128.50 here.
