Richard Wershe Jr., who last had a parole hearing in 2003, and has spent 29 years behind bars for a drug trafficking conviction, has a date with the parole board on Thursday, June 8, WDIV's Kevin Dietz reports.

The parole board hearing for Wershe, who became known as "White Boy Rick," will be held in Jackson, Mich., at 9 a.m., Dietz reports.

Wershe, how 47,  has been locked since he was a teenager.

He was informant for the FBI both before and after he entered prison and has never gotten a break on his sentence as a result of his cooperation.

He theorizes that some high ranking public officials in Detroit worked in conjunction with the parole board to deny his release in the past.

Sadly, even if he's released from Michigan's prison system, Wershe might have to serve at least part of a five- year sentence in Florida for a guilty plea in a car theft ring while he was behind bars.
