Wizards, witches and muggles alike gathered at Masonic Temple in Detroit on Sunday to attend Pottercon, a touring convention dedicated to the Harry Potter franchise. Detroit was the seventh stop this year after Boston, Philadelphia, Washington and other cities.

This weekend's celebration by about 5,000 fans was sold out. The event was for attendees 21 or older, as there was alcohol (or potions, if you'd like to play along) for sale in just about every room and hallway.

There were plenty of Harry Potter-themed activities, including a sorting ceremony in which guests were sorted into one of the four Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. In other areas of the building, attendees had plenty options including a chance to watch a game of real life Quidditch, make their own wands or buy fanmade merchandise in the artist alley.

There was no shortage of cosplayers at Pottercon, many dressed as Hogwarts students. Plenty others went the extra mile to be specific characters like Mad-Eye Moody or Professor Umbridge.
