Detroit Police had to kill two pit bulls Friday after they attacked two brothers, 10 and 12, while they walked to the store before school near Puritan on the city's west side, reports Perry Farrell of the Detroit Free Press reports. The children were taken to  Children's Hospital. One was in serious condition, the other in stable.

"Early this morning, two brothers were dropped off at school by their mom down the street from where this incident happened,'' said police spokesman, Sgt. Michael Woody. "They decided they were going to walk to the store. As they're walking to the store, they are chased by a stray dog.

"They figured the only way to escape the dog is to jump into this fenced yard, which appears to be an abandoned liquor store. They are then attacked by two pit bulls that were in the yard.''
