The first challenge is an ultra-tight one: Pitch yourself as a "Survivor" contestant in just a minute.

That's all the time show applicants get at tryoutsthios afternoon in Oakland County

Think you have what it takes? Here are details from Edward Pevos of MLive:

CBS 62 Detroit is holding the casting call on Thursday, June 15, from 3-7 p.m. at the Gardner White Furniture store in Auburn Hills at 4445 N. Atlantic Blvd.

It's the show's first open casting event in Metro Detroit since 2014.

Appointments aren't offered. Just join the long line and, sign and bring this video release agreement, and have a valid driver's license or passport. Applicants must be at least 18 and a U.S. citizen.

Semi-finalists get invited to Los Angeles, at the production company's expense, for interviews. Past applicants who reached that stage needn't reapply.

The hit reality show has aired on CBS since 2000. A group of strangers are placed in an isolated location, where they must provide food, water, fire, and shelter for themselves. Contestants compete in challenges for rewards and immunity from elimination.

Players get voted out by other contestants until one "Sole Survivor" wins $1 million.

Here's what the casting crew tells prospects:

We are looking for a diverse group of men and women who represent a broad cross-section of American society.

Our competitors will be in excellent physical health. Building shelter and finding food will be much more taxing than a trip to your local hardware store or supermarket. Our competitors will also need to be in excellent mental health so that they will be able to cope with the extreme change in environment and the tension of the competition.

Contestants will be selected based upon having the following traits:

♦ Strong-willed
♦ Outgoing
♦ Adventurous
♦ Physically and mentally adept
♦ Adaptable to new environments
♦ Interesting lifestyle, background and personality

Competitors must be willing to commit to traveling and living in a remote location for approximately seven weeks.
