After receiving more than 2,500 contest entries for a Detroit-specific flavor, Hudsonville Ice Cream on Thursday night officially announced the winner: "Comeback Cooler,' made with Vernors and based on the Boston Cooler.

The Holland, Mich. company honored the winning contestant, Tracy Heureux of Plymouth, at a release party at Rock City Eatery on Woodward in Midtown and posted a video of the presentation on its Facebook page.

The flavor will be available this fall. The company describes it:

"Named for the town you can't keep down; we've captured the iconic flavor of a Boston Cooler you can serve on a cone. French vanilla ice cream is richly swirled with sweet, ginger ale ribbon to form the nostalgic flavor of a Vernors Ginger Ale Float."

Hudsonville also makes Grand Traverse Bay Cherry Fudge, Pure Michigan Winter Campfire,  Mackinac Island Fudge and Tiger Traxx.
