Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh said Saturday he is in the process of officially asking former President Barach and Michelle Obamas to serve as honorary football captains in 2017, The Hill newspaper reports.
Last year, other celebrities who served as honorary coaches included New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and basketball legend Michael Jordan.
Harbaugh was in Washington last week for a congressional hearing and had a chance to meet with the Obamas and extend the invitation.
"Yeah, we're in the process of making an official ask," Harbaugh said Saturday.
Harbaugh worked with Michelle Obama on the Reach Higher education initiative, and has met the former president and first lady many times over the years, The Hill reports.
