Forbes Names Dan Gilbert the Richest Person in Michigan

Yes, Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert is very rich.

Forbes magazine, which names the richest person in every state, pegs Gilbert as the richest in Michigan with a net worth of $5.9 billion.

The magazine writes that his fortune is "self-made." 

Gilbert's empire includes the mortgage business, the Cleveland Cavaliers, casinos, real estate, media and other businesses.

Others on the list include mega-publisher Donald Newhouse of  of New Jersey with $12 billion, the candy man, John Mars of Wyoming with $27.6 billion and Walmart's Jim Walton of Arkansas with $38.5 billion, Charles Koch of Kansas with $47.5 billion, Mike Bloomberg of New York with $50.7 billion, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg with $62.4 billion, Warren Buffett of Nebraska with $76.2 billion and Bill Gates of Washington state with $88.9 billion. .
