June 26, 2017, 5:12 PM by  Allan Lengel

Detroit-based Little Caesars Pizza is headed south -- to South America, that is.

The world's third-largest pizza chain announces its first shop on that comntinent opened this month in Santiago, the capital of Chile. It plans to open 30 more in that country with its area franchisee, Caesars Chile SpA, using its Hot-N-Ready model.

The move expands on the company's presence in Latin America, where it has shops in Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Panama.

The company now operates in six of seven continents, missing only Antarctica.
