A Tale of Twins (2 Sets), a 'Detroiters' Actor and an Uncanny Coincidence
July 15th, 2017, 6:32 AM
We're usually not about birth announcements, but this has several kinds of special.
Cassidy and Cali are introduced to the world late Friday afternoon by their aunt, Detroit actor Shawntay Dalon -- the east-side native who plays Chrissy on "Detroiters."
She posts the newborns' photo on Instagram and Facebook "after being at the hospital for almost 12 hours waiting for these beauties to enter the world." Then she "went on set today, running on pure joy" to tape scenes in Woodbridge for Season Two of the Comedy Central hit about two wacky admen.
But wait, here's where it really gets good:
- The twin girls are the daughters of Dalon's twin sister Janay.
- Shawntay and Janay were born April 17 (4/17) and these next-gen family members arrive July 14 (7/14).
"Freakin' wow!!!" posts the actor, who adds: "Congratulations Clint & Janay."
The two older twins grew up on Detroit's east side and attended the Detroit High School for the Fine and Performing Arts, now renamed the Detroit School of Arts. Shawntay majored in Drama and her sister majored in music.
Shawntay transferred to Finney High School and went on to attend Wayne State University for a degree in speech communications and theater.
She splits her time between Detroit and Los Angeles, and came home last November and December for a role in the play "Dot," staged by Detroit Public Theatre.
Her character in "Detroiters," which returns in 2018, is the sister of Sam Richardson and the wife of co-star Tim Robinson.
