Chinese Electronics Giant, Foxconn, May Come to Michigan

Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Foxconn may come to Michigan, an article on the South China Morning Post's website, Scmp.com., according to the Detroit News.

The giant company said it's planning a "multibillion dollar investment in the U.S. state of Michigan," according to the Chinese article. A week ago, the company announced it was investing $10 billion to build a Wisconsin plant.

Founder Terry Gou is quoted as saying the new plant will be for research, development and production of components and vehicles that can drive autonomously. "Automotive development in the US is still more advanced than China,” says Gou. "Besides self-driving technology, I’m also interested in artificial intelligence and deep learning technology.”

The article doesn't specify in what city Foxcoinn is considering. Ann Arbor area is a hotbed for research into self-driving cars.
