Damaged caused to the wall.

Soave Enterprises, a prominent Detroit development firm, is apparently trying to correct the public relations fallout caused when its construction crew last week seriously damaged the structure of the UFO Factory building on Trumbull in Detroit's Corktown, forcing it to shut.

Owners of the bar-restaurant stop short of saying it intentional. But supporters online suggest that's what happened. Soave is developing Elton Park, a $150-million mixed-use development next door, and reportedly had offered to buy the UFO Factory building, but was rejected.

Now, the Soave company is extending an olive branch and says it is donating $15,000 to a workers' relief fund, according to Lee Devito of Metro Times. The fund has already raised more than $20,000 from small contributions.

"As we work to develop a solution to the accidental damage to the UFO Factory, we are pleased to show our support for the UFO Factory and its employees by donating $15,000 to the GoFundMe campaign," reads a statement from a public relations firm for Elton Park. "Our intention in developing Elton Park is to help bolster the Corktown community, and we hope this donation reflects that goal. We are committed to getting the UFO Factory and Elton Park back on track for Corktown and Detroit."

The GoFundMe page, created before this latest gesture, has less-than loving words for the Soave organization.

If you haven't heard via social media, the Metro Times, or even Click on Detroit, UFO Factory as had some structural damage done to it by none other than, SOAVE, Corktown's least favorite new neighbor.  Unfortunately, the damage is so severe, UFO has to remain closed until further notice.
