Video: Get Ready to Be Very Impressed with Teen's 'Black Nerd Problems' Poetry Slam

YaKuZa Moon, 18, who was homeschooled in Detroit, delivered an impressive performance at the 20th annual Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival.

His poem is titled "Black Nerd Problems." His Detroit team reached the semifinals and finishing among the top 15 teams in the world. Last month's event near San Francisco drew about 600 youths.

YaKuZa Moon, the artist name he uses, tells Deadline Detroit he graduated from alternative school and is pursuing a residency with InsideOut Literary Arts, a nationally recognized program for aspiring writers. They learn from established and emerging poets and other writers.
