Dangerously Delicious Pie has temporarily shut its Midtown and Wyandotte shops as result of concerns over service and the way they were being operated, Eater Detroit reports. The Wyandotte site's future is in question.

Owner Rodney Henry founded the company in Baltimore in 2003 and has since grown the business to six restaurants in the East Coast and Midwest.

He tells Eater's Brenna Houck that he recently came to Detroit to help with the Midtown and Wyandotte businesses and found that they were not meeting the standards he set for Dangerously Delicious Pies. The Midtown shop is at 70 W. Alexandrine, just off of Woodward. The Wyandotte shop is at 2909 Biddle Ave.

He said he's hiring new staff and training them. He also tells Eater Detroit that he might shut the Wyandotte shop for good.

Houck reports:

Although the metro Detroit shops were still producing quality pies, Henry says the menu selection was stagnant and the employees weren’t knowledgeable about the products. “It’s my business, so it’s important for me to keep it from staying the same. It can’t just be mediocre,” he says. “It has to be happening.

On Monday, Henry posted on Facebook:

There is a lot of stuff going on with us in Detroit. Everything that is happening is for the best of dangerously Delicious Pies and our customers. I want to let you all know that everything that's going down is in the best interest of you folks that dig pie.

I'm putting 100 percent of my time and ability to make our business the best it can possibly be. It's often a straight bitch, but things are really coming together and I couldn't be happier.

Be patient with this transition. It will be the best for all of us. Rodney

Henry writes that he plans to re-open in Midtown on Aug. 31. He'll also "be slinging pie" at The Ghost Light in Hamtramck on Labor Day weekend and "doing periodic pop-ups there."
