Video: Watch Texas Rangers Runner Embarrass Tigers by Stealing Home

This week's series against the Texas Rangers wasn't pretty. The Tigers' pitching was poor and the team played sloppily. The listless Tigers lost all three games.

Then there was this embarrassing moment the other night at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, with the Tigers trailing 5-3 in the seventh.

Tigers reliever Daniel Stumpf wasn't paying attention to Rangers' speedster Rougned Odor on third.

As the pitcher was in the stretch, Odor started tearing down the line and stole home. It was humiliating, and Stumpf slater moped vidibly in the dugout. Odor, a second baseman, reacted as if he'd won the Lotto.

Emma Baccellieri of Deadspin notes a nuance:

Per the official scorer’s account of tonight’s Tigers-Rangers game, Rougned Odor did not steal home tonight.

Technically, the Texas second baseman scored on a balk from Detroit pitcher Daniel Stumpf—because a player already aboard must advance one base on a balk, and he explicitly cannot be credited with a stolen base if a balk is called on the play.

Whatever. It was a pretty impressive move by Odor and a rookie move by Stumpf.
