Quicken Loans Founder Dan Gilbert has jumped into mix to try and convince Amazon to put a second headquarters in Detroit, WXYZ reports.
"We have already put together a task force of internal and external people here in Detroit to fully explore the opportunity of Amazon's HQ2," Gilbert said in a statement. "We are very excited and we believe that Detroit will make an extremely strong pitch to Amazon."
Seattle-based Amazon announced the search for a second North American headquarters on Thursday, triggering a frenzy around the country.
With up to 50,000 jobs at stake, competition is expected to be fierce.
Cities from around the country, including Chicago, Baltimore, Nashville, New York, quickly expressed interest Thursday.
