Henry the Hatter, the iconic downtown Detroit store that lost its lease in August after being at 1307 Broadway since 1952, is moving to Eastern Market, Deadline Detroit learns.
The store will be moving to 2472 Riopelle, site of a pet shop that's moving down the street to 2714 Riopelle.
The location is a bit off of Russell, the main street in Eastern Market, but is still easily accessible. It helps that the store has a loyal following and Eastern Market continues to grow.
♦ Update: The new location opened Dec. 8 and one in Southfield closed.
Paul Wasserman, who owns the shop, did not return multiple calls for comment last week.
Wasserman's father, Seymour, bought the business in 1948. He died in 1998.
