Detroit's Murder Rate Jumps... Now Let's Talk About Police Cuts

You can have all the development in the world, and all the great press, but if your homicide rates keeps rising, and your police force keep shrinking, you're going to have problems attracting new residents and visitors.

The Detroit News reports that Detroit has seen a rise in homicides this year.
As of last Friday, the city recorded 261 homicides — a 4.4 percent increase compared to last year's 250. 

And now for the good news, if you can call it that: There  863 non-fatal shootings, a drop of 2.4 percent compared to last year during that period.

And now about those cuts in cops....
