The hat shop is in a pet store's former space.

Henry the Hatter, which lost its lease at its store on Broadway in downtown Detroit, is beginning a new chapter.

Owner Paul Wasserman plans a meet-and-greet for journalists Thursday to show off his new store at 2472 Riopelle St. in Detroit's Eastern Market.

A press release says: "Please note that he is just starting to move into the space so it won't be full of hats and other decor at the time)."

Deadline Detroit first reported the move last month. The shop had been at 1307 Broadway since 1952.

The new store is moving into a space that had been occupied by 3 Dogs 1 Cat Urban Pet Shoppe. The pet shop now is down the street to 2714 Riopelle.

Henry the Hatter also has a shop in Southfield.
