The restaurant is being described as "fast-casual" and an "all-plant eatery." The menu will feature veggies, fruits, grains and beans in creative bowls, wraps, salads, soups, smoothies and baked goods.

It's mostly for carry-out, but has a group table, a dozen window seats and parking in the front and rear.

"It's healthy in a hurry," cardiologist Joel Kahn, who co-owns GreenSpace & Go and GreenSpace Café with his wife Karen and son Daniel, says in a statement. "Inspired by NYC street food and bowls, this venture into fast casual furthers our mission of bringing nutritious, delicious and planet-friendly food to wider audiences."

The business uses "Food is medicine" as a slogan.

♦ Hours: Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

Ferndale's popular vegan restaurant and bar, GreenSpace Café, is launching a vegan, fast-casual eating spot early next year a few miles to the north at 32867 Woodward Ave. in Royal Oak.

The newcomer, GreenSpace Grille & Go, will be in a space formerly occupied by Moe's Southwest Grill.

The menu will have veggies, fruits, grains and beans in burgers, bowls, tacos, salads, baked goods and raw juices, according to a release.

Customers can order at a counter or call ahead for pick-up. The restaurant will also have a dozen window seats.

"'Fast food' and 'healthy' rarely occur in the same sentence, but that's what we're bringing to this busy stretch of Woodward," says cardiologist Joel Kahn, who owns GreenSpace Café with his son Daniel and wife Karen.

The earlier restaurant opened in December 2015 at 215 W. 9 Mile Rd.

"The response to our food truck and its tasty eats, like jackfruit sliders, mac and 'cheese' and Mexican street corn, has been fantastic," Dr. Kahn says. "We expect the truck and our new restaurant will share some menu items, as they help further our mission to bring food that tastes amazing, and is also nutritious and planet-friendly, to wider audiences."
