Michigan-based Hudsonville Ice Cream unveils the Flavor of Detroit contest winner Comeback Cooler, a twist on the traditional Boston Cooler, reports MLive. It's now in stores.

The ice has a Vernors-inspired ginger ale taste mixed with the company's French Vanilla ice cream. MLive reports:

The flavor was added to Hudsonville Ice Cream's family of Michigan-themed ice creams to represent the city of Detroit after it was selected as a contest winner in June. The limited-edition flavor will be produced in a small, seasonal batch and will be available for a limited time.

"Comeback Cooler recreates a classic Detroit float favorite and we look forward to sharing this Flavor of Detroit with our fans," said CJ Ellens, director of sales & marketing at Hudsonville Ice Cream.

"We spent quite a bit of time in Detroit this year, connecting with members of the community and sharing a sweet summer with them. This flavor really speaks to the spirit of Detroit, and we are thrilled to share it with everyone."

In June, after receiving more than 2,500 contest entries for a Detroit-specific flavor, the Holland, Mich., firm chose thd one from Tracy Heureux of Plymouth.
