Off-Duty Deputy Kills Man Breaking into Her Southwest Detroit Residence





An off-duty Wayne County Sheriff's deputy shot and killed a 26-year-old home invader breaking into her Southwest Detroit home on Saturday around 2 a.m..

The deputy was awakened when the intruder, wearing a black mask, kicked in her door, reports Jermont Terry of WDIV. 

Police tell WDIV that the two exchanged gunfire and the intruder was shot in the chest and heart.

"I would have probably did the same thing," Curran Pickett, a neighbor, tells the station. "She did what she had to do."
