Chick-fil-A has an intensely devoted following around the U.S. and Canada, with more than 2,200 outlets opened since 1967.

Now the Atlanta-based company is entering the Detroit market. Its new restaurant opens Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Detroit Medical Center, the The Detroit News reports. It's in the main lobby of Harper/Hutzel Women’s Hospital, 3990 John R St.

“Chick-fil-A and Hospital Retail Solutions are proud to play a small part in the resurgence of Detroit, with the new location set to hire more than 50 employees,” the company says.

This is the seventh Michigan site, including one at Somerset Collection North.
